Leigh CE Primary School

Arrangements for consulting children

Pupil Passports are created in partnership with the children. Discussions take place between staff and children when creating the passports, and they include information the children want people to know about themselves (eg their interests, things they don’t like, things they are good at, things they find difficult). Observations of children are also used to inform the Pupil Passports, as they are not always able to verbalise effectively.

Pupil voice is gained regularly through activities such as ‘All About Me’, ‘The Three Houses’ , ‘Talking Mats’ and ‘Wishes and Feelings’.  Informal chats take place regularly, as well as more formal discussions and surveys. Children also have access to the school counsellor and pastoral team.  These activities are all used to inform the provision needed for the children. Children are invited to meetings such as EHCP annual reviews and are encouraged to take an active part in these meetings. This is done in an age-appropriate way.
