Classroom environments
Each classroom follows the ‘communication friendly’ approach and has a ‘Safe Space’.
There is also a dedicated room that children can access when the classroom environment is too overwhelming- the Green Room. The Zones of Regulation are used throughout school to support children’s emotional wellbeing and emotional regulation and activities supporting ‘emotional literacy’ are used on a regular basis.
In every classroom there is a visual timetable, and some children also have an individual visual timetable, ‘now and next’ board or ‘working towards’ board. Staff also use other visual aids and simple signs to support communication.
