Leigh CE Primary School

How accessible is the school environment?

Leigh CE is wheelchair accessible.

There are ramps that allow easy access into and out of the school building.  There is a lift which gives access to the first floor and there are accessible toilets and a hygiene room complete with a shower.

Children who require support to evacuate the building in an emergency with a Personal Emergency Evacuation Plan (PEEP) in place, clearly explaining what provision is needed.  These are reviewed at least annually.

Where specialist equipment or facilities are needed as part of a support plan we work closely with the Occupational and Physical Therapy teams to ensure that children have access to any equipment they need

Children that require specialist equipment in school are well supported.

Staff work closely with outside agencies such as the Occupational Therapy (OT) service, Outreach and families to ensure the appropriate equipment is used effectively and safely, and that children are included in all aspects of school life.

Staff have appropriate training to support the use of this equipment.
