I have been teaching for 14 years and have held roles leading KS2, Maths, PE and music. In 2018, I delivered training in China to primary teachers delivering a more collaborative approach to teaching. I have been working at Leigh CE since December 2018, where I worked in Y1/2 after I moved from Leicester back to Leigh. I then made the jump to Year 5 and then Year 6 and I now work alongside Mr Greaves and Miss Brown in Year 5/6. I am the maths lead working closely with the Maths Hub to ensure quality teaching and learning across the school.

I was appointed as a Governor of Leigh CE Primary School in April 2021. I volunteered for this position as I was proud of the developments the school was making and felt I had the time, drive and personal experience to help the school further on this journey. I share the school's vision of raising children's aspirations as I believe this is so important for the future generations of Leigh.

I have worked in supporting and managerial roles within various educational establishments throughout my working life. I currently work in Medical Education for the NHS.

I am the Team Rector of the Parishes of Atherton and Hindsford and of Howe Bridge, a proud governor of Leigh CE School and an enthusiastic Trustee of the Wings' CE MAT. I have lots of experience of being a school governor having served almost continuously for over 25 years in 5 different Church Schools, and seeing vast changes in education during that time.

I have seen a great positive change in Leigh CE Primary School and I am always inspired by the dedication and hard work of staff and children. My strong focus in all that we do as trustees and governors is to improve our children's education in its broadest sense within a loving Christian environment. I strive to ensure our children to have a real love of learning and aspirations to be the very best they can be. These are the leaders of the future so it's a privilege to play a small part in helping their growth and development.

I have worked in the IT industry for over thirty years as a programmer, systems analyst, project manager, team leader, implementer and troubleshooter. I try to use the analytical skills developed over the years in the governor role. I have been a scout leader for over thirty-five years so know the challenges of working with children as well as the rewards that this can bring. As a former Group Scout Leader I also have experience of dealing with the management of adults. I was raised in Atherton and lived in Leigh for over twenty years, regularly attending St.John the Evangelist church before its closure. Having moved back to Atherton I now worship at St.John the Baptist, which most people know a Atherton Parish Church. I played rugby for over thirty years for Atherton RUFC, Leigh RUFC and at Bradford University. Also, I have been known to play the odd game or two of cricket and occasional round of golf. I have been a keen supporter of Leigh Centurions since the 1970s - a true 'leyther'.

I am a mother of three beautiful children , two girls and one boy. I am self employed, in a role that I thoroughly enjoy and I have a background in childcare . I am also an artist which I find rewarding and therapeutic, although this has taken a back seat due to family life and work . I am passionate about children’s education and the importance of nurturing our children to enable them to become the best version of themselves. I am also a big believer in the importance of diversity and inclusion .
